many VIN and GND pins

Post by kamikaze » Sat Aug 27, 2016 1:18 am

why there is so many VIN and GND pins? and is there any benefit of connecting all of them to VIN and GND? is it for a stable cpu overclocking like with motherboards?

The set of 4 VIN and Ground pins near X1, X2, X3, and X4 allow hobby RC servos to be plugged in directly.

The servos have 3 pin connectors with GND, VIN, and signal.

The multiple PWR & GND pins are for convenience of connecting multiple things to the board. These include:
- two half size skins, eg AMP and LCD,
- as Dave said; four hobby servo motors,
- four analog inputs with their own quiet GND pin,
- main power from battery or power supply,
- backup battery for RTC and RAM

The Pyboard works perfectly well with just a single VIN and GND connection.

If you are using analog sensors it is better to connect them to pin X24 (AGND) and not connect this pin to your main (noisier) GND.
