max current

Post by badryan » Fri May 02, 2014 9:34 am

Hi,

I'm not sure if I've seen any technical information in that direction, so I thought I'd just ask: Does anyone know the max current the pyboard supports when drawing directly from the 3V3?

Hey Boris,

So, according to the datasheet, the max current that can be drawn by the chip is 150mA. This will be higher than what the chip itself can draw with no connected devices.

The per pin I/O current is rated at upto 25mA, but since the total is 150 for the entire chip, you can't have very many pins which need such high currents.

I'll do some measurements once my pyboard arrives, but the above should give you a ballpark for the time being (or until someone does some real measurements).
