At Linux Conf AU 2018 (held in January in Sydney) there was a workshop on "Getting started with MicroPython" by Nick Moore. The full video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inUMgHQ62sA.
In particular at the end there are some words about supporting development of MicroPython: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inUMgHQ62sA&t=1081s

Re: Talks and videos about MicroPython
Also at the same conference, Andy Gelme introduces a open hardware 'lollibot' programmed with micropython. More on the hardware for those who are interested.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get hold of one of the kits (or just the PCB) for this lollibot? I have contacted the organisers but got no reply...

Re: Talks and videos about MicroPython
Hi Phil, I'll probably see Andy at the MicroPython meetup on Wednesday - I'll ask him about whether the lollibot kits are available.
Re: Talks and videos about MicroPython
hi Phil and Matty,
There are more LoliBot PCBs and parts. Additional parts were ordered after the LCA2018 conference.
I'll be at the Melbourne MicroPython meetup this coming Wednesday. There is a possibility that Jon will have a kit ready by then. If not, we can sort out the details.
Since LCA2018, I've completely reworked the software ... and now have a much more modular and capable framework.
Note: The hardware and (older) software GitHub repository is here ... https://github.com/CCHS-Melbourne/LoliBot
