hi, sorry for the deep dig. I have exactly the same problem (wlan.active(True) crash) and I found this only topic talking about that. I'm working on an Espressif board, ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1 (demo board from the SoC supplier :x ), and very surprised that this bug has not been fixed since long months it...
