I built the firmware from source code (latest commit 65402ab1ec05fd552ceae63e2dcac69095ab1338) and now the error is gone. While doing a little more research, I stumpled upon the following commit in a fork, which has an interesting commit message. I would also be very interested in having WPA Enterprise support. A lot of educational institutions use it (the previously mentioned eduroam network), as does ours.
