Re: Is there anyone mount Sdcard successfully on ESP32 ??

Not directly related but I was just testing a micro SD card setup on a NodeMcu32s under Arduino. The ESP32 hardware seems fussy about the type of SD card, the one I was intially testing with was not recognised at all, but it works fine on say a Arduino Pro Mini. There have been quite a few comments ...

Re: ESP32 and LoRa

It would be very nice if generic ESP32 devices running Loboris firmware or the 'official' build could have an all-Python implementation of LoRaWAN coupled with a Python sx127x driver, and be able to communicate with The Things Network through one of their gateways. Or even be able to serve as a TTN...

Re: ESP32 and LoRa

Well its MicroPython where my interest really lies, so whilst its been handy to test these ESP32\LoRa things with my own Arduino LoRa code, I see the future as MicroPython. I think the Pyboard is a better development environment than the ESP32, but with shift of Pyboard from pyb to machine I\O then ...

Re: ESP32 and LoRa

Without such gateways I'm not sure LoRaWAN is worth the trouble, and they seem to be pretty rare in the USA. The US does not seem keen on the technology, but its clearly an effective technology if the number of Gateways in more enlightened parts of the World is an indication, see the map; https://w...

I wonder if I can drag this thread back to the original question.
Seems to me that the discussions have been to do with the questions raised in the first post ?

Re: ESP32 and LoRa

The Heltec ESP32 WiFi LoRa I have here has circa 3.5dBm worse receiver performance than a more EMI quite ATMega 328P @ 8Mhz powered receiver.

Tested at 434.4Mhz, bandwidth 125000, spreading factor 8, code rate 4:5.

Details of how the test was done here;

Re: ESP32 and LoRa

I'm in the USA Then pay heed to some of the significant restrictions for 433Mhz use; https://www.edn.com/electronics-blogs/eye-on-iot-/4437311/Using-433-MHz-for-wireless-connectivity-in-the-Internet-of-Things Switching to the ISM band for the US, 915Mhz, would allow you to use more power, transmit ...

Re: ESP32 and LoRa

I think I will do a little more experimenting with spreading factors and data rates to try to identify some sweet spots in the tunings, but this is a lot more like what I was expecting. There is no sweet spot in the settings, if you want more range you either use more power or slow the packets down...

Re: ESP32 and LoRa

In a direct comparison, using the exact same antennas, height of antennas, data rate, and location\path, then you can easily demonstrate an approximate 20dBm link gain between a FSK device (I have tested an RFM22B) and a LoRa device. So if you do it right it LoRa will go around 10 times further than...

Re: ESP32 and LoRa

In the US you should be using 915Mhz for ISM band stuff, so antennas are shorter than the are for 434mhz. You might just try coiling a simple wire up inside the case. WiFi does offer far higher data rates than LoRa can offer, but you wont get the range of LoRa even if your small 'device' could suppl...
