Can we use Blynk with the ESP8266?

I see that the WiPy blynk library imports the WiPy module (https://github.com/wipy/wipy/blob/master/lib/blynk/BlynkLib.py) so it wont work directly on an ESP8266, and I haven't found any code that uses the ESP8266 with Blynk. This port for the ESP8266 you recently added is the one I'm super interested in. I'm hoping to have micropython-enabled IoT's covering my house soon!
