Re: Remove '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00.\x00\x00\x00' files?

I suspected as much. I was hoping for a less nuclear solution.

Thanks.

Remove '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00.\x00\x00\x00' files?

My flash drive seems to have accumulated numerous files named '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00.\x00\x00\x00'. I don't understand where they came from, and I have no idea how to get rid of them. os.remove() doesn't work.

Can't detect hard_reset on deep_sleep override

If I call machine.reset() and check the cause, I get 4, SOFT_RESET. If I ground CHPD and check the reset cause, I get 0, PWRON_RESET. If I deep sleep, wait out the sleep period, wake up, and check the reset cause, I get 5, DEEPSLEEP_RESET. If I ground RST and check the cause, I get 6, HARD_RESET. I...

Re: ESP8285 ESP-01M

Ah, thanks for the correction. I must have taken notice of the firmware distinction when I first looked into the ESP-01 and ESP-01S because the former is 512k and the latter is 1M.

Re: Only power sensor when not in deep sleep

Yeah. Thanks for pointing me that way. I admit, I'm interesting in cheaper options, but your comment pushed me in a whole direction. I was totally unfamiliar with the ESP8285 and the numerous boards built around it.

Re: ESP8285 ESP-01M

Yep. Thanks. I'm rapidly coming up to speed on the breathless diversity of options in the realm of these ESP8266/ESP8285/ESP32 chips. The D1 mini is nice. It maintains the very small form factor that I find so appealing, while still offering numerous GPIOs (including the ADC and GPIO16 for deep-slee...

ESP8285 ESP-01M

Inspired by a comment in another thread that brought the ESP8285 (not the ESP8266) to my attention, I found this remarkable device: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/ESP8266-ESP-01M-WiFi-module-serial-to-WiFi-customized-double-sided/32829376755.html In what is surely the smallest form factor I have ye...

Re: Only power sensor when not in deep sleep

That is pretty cool, but to be clear, that's a surface-mount (or snap-mount, I'm not sure of the technical term) device, which means it needs an entire support infrastructure before it can be used. Presumably there is a board with a snap-in slot built exactly for that to fit into, but then I'm back ...

Re: Only power sensor when not in deep sleep

I haven't found anything else as small as the ESP-01S with an integrated wifi antenna. Do you think there is an equivalent alternative, either ESP8266 or ESP32?

Re: Only power sensor when not in deep sleep

I was trying to avoid an extra pin. I'm already using the TX pin to power the FET in the same as the relay you propose (to my limited understanding, I'm an electronics novice, more software oriented). The ESP-01S offers two native GPIOs (one hard-coded to the on-board LED) and two additional GPIOs s...
