Re: Target audience for MicroPython?
@kevinkk525 - I was just going to send you a direct message to see how hard it would be to use your project to play with homeassistant. I have homeassistant running on my mac. I have a pyboard. Will your esp8266 code run on the pyboard? interfacing is a main focus of homeassistant. The mqtt interfac...

Re: Target audience for MicroPython?
Perhaps this question is better addressed at a later time. The funder of micropython may be interested in the interfacing of micropython to other projects. IEC11631-3 is one. Perhaps homeassistant is another. Perhaps it will be up to some vendor to initiate this development. From what I have gathere...

Re: search for an inexpensive device to detect housebreaking
If you want to have better security, make sure that your electronics are protected by a time lock, that can only be opened when you are around.

Re: Target audience for MicroPython?
corporations (codesys?) supports open software where it suits their corporate interests. openplc is an open platform for IEC61131-3. for example, codesys is built to use, or built on top of (not sure) of the oscat open source control libraries. And codesys runs on a raspberry pi. So, codesys will us...

Re: plant watering
I'm not sure what your requirements are, but you may find the opensprinkler project of interest. https://opensprinkler.com/product/opensprinkler-pi/ The software has a c/c++ verson and a python version. I am trying to learn the python version, so I can hack it. https://rayshobby.net/mediawiki/index....

Re: Would a pyboard purchase support the project?
I personally would buy 10 of them in a heartbeat, because my time is saved flashing the sdram card, or updating the flash. corporations might eat it up because they buy a boat load of them and then deploy. And Damien gets to be on the hook for support. That's why corporations will support it. And he...

Re: Target audience for MicroPython?
I'm a bit late to this discussion, but would like to propose consideration of a different picture. I used to be a programmer in my previous life, but gave it up in 2002. I'm now back looking at it again, largely because of micropython. I would like to propose that micropython become an IEC61131-3 la...
