Re: Stability of ESP32 vs ESP8266

Just wanted to add my experience to the pot. I have an ESP-32 hooked up to a device and it is also connected via MQTT. Sending messages every minute. Been flawless for almost a full year now. It communicates via modbus RTU over TTL (with a driver I modified to work) too. ESP-32 seem to be decent. I ...

Re: MQBoard - Micro-Framework for MicroPython Boards Managed via MQTT

You did it! Congratulations TVE! I will be putting this through the paces this week for sure. This is something I really wanted for a long time. I've been scrapping together other things in order to make it work but now, can't wait to try this out. Again, thank you! :D How would you like contributio...

Re: ESP32 using OTA updates

I believe the OP wants to update the python files in the filesystem, not update the MicroPython firmware itself? In that case the project linked by the OP seems appropriate. @straga: you may want to update your OTA code to use the esp32.Partition class in order to select the next partition and to w...

Re: ESP32 and LilyGo TTGO T Call

Simcom 7000g is a pretty good product. Reception is very good. If you have NB-IoT or CAT-M1 networks around it is gonna help with power requirements for solar. That particular link i sent has the solar connections and a rechargeable battery holder, soooo....... prob exactly what you want. The 7000g ...

Re: ESP32 and LilyGo TTGO T Call

Yes for sure. I have the entire project running on micropython. I made my own module for interacting with the modem Simcom 7000g in my case via AT commands through the UART of the ESP32. It took me a while but it is very stable right now, especially with the new uasyncio lock and event features. Pl...

Re: ESP32 and LilyGo TTGO T Call

kinno, I was just wondering if this task can be done solely in Micropython. I have migrated a system that was using Python, Bash and Cron to run solely on Python, with a view to then migrate it to Micropython. If I can access the cellular capability of this product and do it from Micropython calls ...

Re: Downloading py scripts from D1 mini

I also recommend trying MPFshell for a start. You connect to the D1 with the 'open' command then the port where it is connected. For example on windows it is 'open com1' then you can get the files off the mini by simply using the get commands 'get main.py'. Sometimes mpfshell won't work the best and...

Re: ESP32 and LilyGo TTGO T Call

I am programming their better version with sim7000g. I actually am the one who asked them to make that version. What is your question?

Re: ESP32-targeted alternative to Ampy

To add to this. If you are using multiple boards from different vendors, revisions etc. I think rshell is most stable with MPF shell being a close second. I personally like MPF shell because less keystrokes but it does not always connect to my ESP32's where rshell will. I recommend having both on yo...

Re: SIM800L + UART + network module?

I tried to extract just the code that would help but I think I may have led to some confusion. The simcom.simcom that you are referring to is a module I wrote myself to handle all the functions related to simcom in my project. I didn't want to upload hundreds of lines of code so I copied the parts I...
