indeed it does, but it reads just once, I need continuously polling
rate can be seconds - not critical at all

Edit to add:
My Pyboard is rev. 1
I am running Lenox (latest kernel, whatever that is) and Ubuntu 14.04.1

As anybody that has seen my posts here can plainly see, I am a complete noob at this stuff. I bought the Pyboard in the hopes that i could use it to control a small hobby greenhouse, Temp, ventilation, etc. I have been through all the "beginners" tutorials and feel that I understand but a minuscule ...

Thanks for your help everybody. Dave, your replies convinced me that there was something not quite not right with my system. I booted a fresh copy of 14.04.1 and am now a happy camper. Again, I continue to be impressed with depth of knowledge and system/coding skills of the good people of this forum...

Ok, so now I can edit and save main.py by executing gedit from as sudo.

Question: can I give myself read rite access to the the usb? To main.py?
Will everything still work if i give myself read rite access?
will someone post a command line that will accomplish any or all of the above?

Bingo! Thanks roberthh. By opening gedit under sudo i can at least edit and run main.py. I may want to eventually try dhylands main edit/write main py. but i'm not sure i can talk Dave's language - and he probably can't dumb it down so that i can understand I won't plead complete ignorance of this s...

Chopper amps were around quite a few years before '67; they originally used MECHANICAL! vibrators for choppers...
