Re: Differences between CH340 & CP210X Boards

Good catch sir!

I tried picocom and it had no issues. So I am sure it is a problem with minicom.

Thank you for your help!

Differences between CH340 & CP210X Boards

I have a weird situation where the only difference seems to be the serial chip and it is causing an issue when I try to get to the serial REPL. The host PC... a Raspberry Pi running Raspbian with minicom as the terminal application. The two test subjects are a regular Wemos D1 Mini with a CH340 chip...

I don't use Vagrant either.

This might help.

It's a video made for Windows 10, so you may have some differences. But it should show you how to do it.

Chinese Micropython Clones(?)

I came across this site... http://www.micropython.net.cn/ and was wondering what boards these are most similar too. Most of the site is in Chinese, so I can't tell very much. Are these Pyboard compatible clones... or are they more like the STM Discovery boards?

Re: MicroPython As A First Language

I really appreciate the insight given so far... I really like to hear other perspectives... I should say, I have total access to desktop Python of course... it's just that... I am very happy working in these constrained environments! I think that working with a limited set of functionality and power...

ESPWidget - ESP8266 Based Info Terminal

Hi, This is a couple of years old... but I wanted to present my ESPWidget project (https://github.com/joewez/ESP-Widget) in case it gives somebody an idea. It's basically a Wemos D1 Mini connected to about as many simple devices as I could... an OLED display, a NeoPixel, a piezo buzzer and three use...

MicroPython As A First Language

Hi, I've been avidly developing my MicroPython skills for a couple of years now (mainly on the ESP8266 port) and was wondering if I am missing some essential skills because I have not developed with the full CPython. I guess I am concerned about learning a module or technique that is not transferabl...

Re: Anyone recommending a good IDE?

I like uPyCraft. I use something similar... but is based on Ampy... Adafruit's utility.
I think they are working on a Linux version, which would be great. I know there are many on this board that use Linux.
A cross-platform IDE would be nice!

Re: Uploading MicroPython to Wemos D1 leads to garbage

Yes, you should definitely try erasing the flash first. If that doesn't help there are a couple of caveats surrounding esptool.py, but I have not had any of these issues with any of my D1 Minis (or clones). Apparently some devices require you to specify the flash mode. See https://github.com/espress...
