Re: NEW: WiPy 2.0 - shipping 10 Oct 2016
Interesting but not very informative. As for the LoPy I would be disappointed if it failed to achieve 1KM. That is the point of LoRa and much greater ranges have been achieved by skilled radio amateurs with high gain antennas. We reached 134km distance with LoRa a week ago tracking a CESSNA airplan...

Re: My LoPy board arrived
It would be good to have a dedicated subforum for LoPy talks. Pycon created dedicated forum on their site, so I don't think it would be friendly action to create a section here, unless there will be *really* many people who want to talk about LoPy on this forum and not on that. In the meantime, as ...

Re: Comparison to Zerynth's Python for Embedded?
Thanks for correction. That's fine, a different business model. I stay with MicroPython.

Re: What exactly are LoRaWAN service providers needed for?
At the beginning of the Kickstarter project there was an announcement of deal with few service providers that they will offer service free for one end device. But it depends on your location, whether your area is connected or not. You may check https://www.thethingsnetwork.org/ also. One more source...

Re: NEW: WiPy 2.0 - shipping 10 Oct 2016
@bmarkus I've read a number of accounts of long range communication using LoRa. IIRC the spread spectrum modulation method achieves a 20dB improvement in link budget offering an immediate improvement unavailable to WiFi. While LoRa is carrier frequency agnostic, I gather most physical realisations ...

Re: NEW: WiPy 2.0 - shipping 10 Oct 2016
Sorry for being off topic, just want to comment LoRa. Personal experience is that we can track small private airplane with LoRa. 50km is reliable and stable, getting cca. -4 dB S/N ratio while system limit is around -15dB using a small 0 dB gain stick antenna inside of cockpit. Changing antenna to a...
