Re: [TM4C123] SD card with SPI

So, they're saying, that micropython has the capability to use software sdcard support over the SPI module.

That prohibits the use of a boot.py then?

[TM4C123] SD card with SPI

Hey,

I want to implement SD card support, because I cannot dedicate flash for storage.

Do I implement this, by taking the functions from sdcard.c (STM32) and rewrite them with SPI or is there a simpler way?

[TM4C123] REPL debugging info

Hey, I have a strange problem. The REPL shows the debugging info, even though I didn't enable it. And when I call disable_irq() in the main its gone. Does someone have an idea? It looks like this: took 8 ms qstr: n_pool=1 n_qstr=3 n_str_data_bytes=19 n_total_bytes=115 GC: total: 24192, used: 1200, f...

Re: [TM4C123] SPI word length

I didn't know if bytestitching was the only way to achieve this, maybe there would have been a better solution.
Thanks for your reply!

[TM4C123] SPI word length

Hey,

my controller supports up to 16bit words for SPI, but the transfer functions only accept byte arrays.
Is there a way to send larger words?

Thanks,

Re: Soft SPI suitable for all boards?

Hey, yeah that is basically what I meant,

I'm going to try duplicating the dict and adding my own constants anyways, maybe it will work.
Would you care to elaborate why it would be fragile?

Thanks,

Soft SPI suitable for all boards?

Hey, should I let the hard_spi type delegate the constructor to the soft spi module if I'm not on a ST board? const mp_obj_type_t machine_hard_spi_type = { { &mp_type_type }, .name = MP_QSTR_SPI, .print = machine_hard_spi_print, .make_new = mp_machine_spi_make_new, // delegate to master constructor ...

Re: Any reason behind make_new -> init -> init_helper ?

Ok that makes more sense I guess.

You mentioned "machine_uart_make_new", in the 1.9.4 version(the one I'm working on) this is still called "pyb_uart_make_new".

Is this just a naming difference?

Any reason behind make_new -> init -> init_helper ?

Hi, as the title says, I was wondering if there is a reason behind the existence of the init_helper functions of the modules? It seems very redundant to call the init function, that itself only calls the init_helper function. Could I just put the initialization directly inside the make_new function?...
