ssd1306 SPI, static noise display

All ESP8266 boards running MicroPython.
Official boards are the Adafruit Huzzah and Feather boards.
Target audience: MicroPython users with an ESP8266 board.

ssd1306 SPI, static noise display

Hello! I am having trouble with my SSD1306 SPI OLED display only displaying static noise after running code on my ESP8266 board.
It looks like this:Image

It should be displaying "Hello world!". I'm using this library:

Which gives me the weird output. The pins of my MCU is connected as follows:

SCK - D5 - GPIO14
SDA - D7 - GPIO13
RES - D0 - GPIO16
DC - D4 - GPIO2
CS - D8 - GPIO15
This seems to also be correct, but I would love if the problem simply was that I messed up the pins. I am otherwise really at a loss here.
And the OLED boards are expensive to have delivered, if the problem is that.

So, does it show the same snow pattern each time? And I assume that does not move after your program runs? If so, I would guess wrong pins or maybe the baud rate is too fast for some reason. I have only used I2C on these displays which worked with no problems, so these are just guesses but seeing as no one else more knowledgeable had replied, I thought it might help if I asked a few questions :D

I am getting the exact same issue with the I2C version of the ssd1306 - would appreciate any help.
