Why is my microbit playing this animation

I have a microbit plugged into the usb on my raspberry pi. When you boot a pi the usb switches on for a short while, it then powers down before switching on for good.
My microbit is sometimes not running the micropython program flashed on it, but it's playing the animation 0, 5, Image.SAD_FACE
When i reset it with the button on the back it sometimes runs the program others the animation
