I'm just posting in order to "subscribe" to notifications of any updates to this thread. I'd like very much to know the timeline and pricing of the next generation of PyBoard.

I'm dying for one of these for the next generation of my PyGuitar project!

Any dates set yet for availability? Alpha/Beta testing? I'm available!

Ciao,
Bob

According to the Speaker in this Video (Christine Spindler) Pyboard-D is in the final testing and should be out in the next two weeks...

Same here. At the moment I'm betting at the Fosdem for presenting the board which is at the 2. February.

FOSDEM stand was a good guess, and I have my PYBD.

The board is really tiny, apparently half of the size of the original and the pin are double density.
It is about the size of an SD card, and it is really challenging to read the pin description without a magnifier.

Unfortunately, O'Reilly stand took some of the cash I had with me, and I had not enough left to get the add-on board.
That add-on board let you have breadboard friendly pin spacing, but also little sensor to start exploring without soldering.
And it's not in the webshop yet, so I will have to wait.

Today, it is maybe lacking a bit of documentation, especially on the WiFi/BLE, but I knew that.
It is hard for my to compare, because I never had the original pyboard, apparently I only used micropython on ESP8266, ESP32 and a lot of circuitpython. So some stuff that are new to me (like microSD card) are normal, and the PYBFLASH drive is similar to the CIRCUITPY drive, so it is "normal" to me, even if I don't have that on ESP8266.

So get ready, I guess the board will soon be available for all in quantity.

Too bad that it's only Bluetooth 4.1 and not 5, because 5 offers some interesting long range modes, that would be interesting for embedded electronics. I guess that 5 is just too new to be cheap and reliable.

But the Cypress datasheet mentions that it has a FM receiver. Can we use that in Micropython?
