Thonny freezing when trying to flash firmware

I had it working well before so must have done something wrong obviously.
Whenever I am trying to open .bin firmware file for flashing it freezes Thonny. More so if I am trying to do exactly the same it freezes Mu Editor as well! Weirdly enough I can do anything else in both.
Has anyone got a clue what I have done wrong? Last thing I was trying to do before it started to happen was copying nano-gui directory to my ESP32 (which did not happen unfortunately) I am a bit lost as I am not professional but more like a hobbyist in this field.

Anybody could help please?

I didn't know Mu supported flashing firmware... although it has been a while since I looked. Can you clarify what you mean by "open .bin firmware file"?

I am using ESP32 WROOM 38PIN and all was working fine before.
Issue appears when I click brows for firmware file. A window pops up and freezes IDE (any).
Tried to reinstall it but it did not help either.

Windows 10. Problem seems to be solved. Well at least bit. It freezes when I open 'downloads' folder but when go to an empty one on the desktop it works fine. Probably to much junk in downloads..

I've seen the file preview feature in Windows Explorer (and also in open dialogs) having difficulties with certain files.
