FOSDEM 2017?

For those who don't know:
FOSDEM is a free event for software developers to meet, share ideas and collaborate. Every year, thousands of developers of free and open source software from all over the world gather at the event in Brussels. https://fosdem.org/2017/
The next one is in under 2 months ( 4-5 th Feb).

Are there any plans for anyone on this forum to present anything there relevant to Micropython / ESP8266??

The current IOT Devroom listing is currently completely empty ... ( https://fosdem.org/2017/schedule/track/ ... of_things/ )

I haven't decided myself whether or not to attend, but if there were a few uPy/ESP people going, I might decide to go...

The official deadline for the IOT devroom was December 1st, but it says they might consider later proposals - I am amazed that IOT has not attracted any submissions for demos or proposals (maybe they are just not listed) - this could be an opportunity for uPY/ESP8266??

Thanks

Thanks for pointing this event.

I've submitted "Scientific MicroPython for Microcontrollers and IoT" today :
Abstract :
MicroPython is a FOSS implementation of Python 3 optimised to run on a microcontroller with MHz and tens or hundreds of Kbytes of RAM. I will present MicroPython in terms of hardware and software, including some boards with network access, like WiFi, Bluetooth and LoRa. But even with these hardware constraints, scientific MicroPython is already available and practical, to be shown from the perspective of users and developers.

I will be there, and I will be more than happy to discuss Micropython-related things there (maybe we could even go to a dinner if there are more people, I know a marvelous mussels place there), but I didn't plan to present anything this year.

I had to withdraw a suggestion to show Saltstacks "proxy minion" feature to sync files with a micropython ESP8266 bringing this board effectively under config management. Maybe another year -- but too busy with real life in 2017.

My talk "Scientific MicroPython for Microcontrollers and IoT" seems to be accepted.

Will anybody here also be present at FOSDEM17 ? @warren, @deshipu, it will nice to meet you.

I was planning to round up a few MIcroPython people after the talk and go together for a dinner -- however, I wasn't even able to enter the room, as it was full before I even got close.

So how about meeting for lunch on Sunday at 12:00 at a nearby restaurant, La Bécasse?
