Just an idea: There are many WiFi Outlets like the "Gosund SP 111" out there. They have an ESP8266 at there heart and an Relay and Power Measurement IC. You can use them to switch your Outlet via WiFi but you can also use them to get an accurate Power Reading from your Outlet. Easy to spy on your washing machine!
