Home-made breakout / dev board

Post by mathieu » Wed May 15, 2019 11:30 pm

Based on the information from this thread, I designed a very basic development board for the pybd which is documented here.

This is actually the first PCB I ever designed, and a big part of the fun was finding out if I could pull off soldering the 0.4-mm-pitch WBUS connectors (spoiler: it's much easier than expected). For those of you with zero experience, like me, I tried to document all the steps I followed, but if anything is unclear please just ask.

I look forward to any comments / advice.

That's awesome! Nice work :)

Btw, did you see the reference designs linked from pybd.io? (Amongst other things, they have the part numbers for those connectors).

Awesome job! Thanks for documenting and sharing.

I also made a breakout board. Documentation and KiCAD files here in case someone may find them useful.

Any possibility of finding any of this breakout boards on tindie or similar?
I know there is a WBUS-DIP28 breakout board on the MP store, but the form factor is of no use to me.

I have seen a lot of you make your own boards but i am far from being able to do that.
