How much power does it take to remain connected to Wifi?

Post by tve » Sun Jan 05, 2020 12:51 am

I'm interested in the low-power capabilities if the pyboard-d series. The Wifi module's datasheet claims it can maintain an association with less than 1mA avg supply current, but my experience with this type of claim is that they need a very large grain of salt... Does anyone have measurements about how much power it takes to do something like having the processor idle, except send a brief MQTT message every 10 seconds? I.e. practically idle but clearly remaining in communication.
