MicroPython plugin with Pycharm Win10

Post by Delebel » Thu Dec 02, 2021 4:59 pm

A quick heads up to anyone trying to setup Pycharm for development on the Pi pico. I spent 3 days trying to figure out why the MicroPython plugin could not access/detect my pico since the Thonny application on the same machine was able do so. Turns out it was a permissions thing. Running Pycharm as administrator immediately fix the problem. I just recently moved from Win8.1 to 10. On Win8 the security regime must have been less restrictive. Beware after 3 days of browsing forums, videos and help sites there was not a single mention about how insidious and ruthless the security/permissions are applied on windows10 without any warning at all...

If it helps even a single user to find new hope...Bravo

Denis
