I bought this board at SparkFun. It seamed odd at first that it came on plastic bag, no black box included. Second... the bar code is printed on bond paper and is very fuzzy and does not say made in Germany.

The board quality is fine. Not as good as the pictures in micropython.org store, but still fine. Good quality.
In an australian web store I found the same pictures that SparkFun has on their website but they do show the black box.:

I know SparkFun is an authorized seller and in no way I doubt about them, just curious to know what happened here... And sad about my black box.

Re: Is this an original Pyboard?
It looks genuine to me, but it's impossible to be certain. Perhaps they are made elsewhere these days, hence the different packaging. They seem permanently out of stock on the official store so I'm impressed you managed to buy one.

Re: Is this an original Pyboard?
Hello Pythoncoder.
Yea, i am also certain this ones are a different batch, its understandable when small productions are being made there is always a continuity problem. Anyway... i am happy to support Micropython in anyway possible that is why everyone should buy the genuine boards.
Well if anyone can not get a hold of a genuine Pyboard, head over to SparkFun they still got pinless boards available but they are out of stock of the one with pins.

Re: Is this an original Pyboard?
Have you contacted Sparkfun? I've always found them to be very responsive to customers.
I've probably purchased over 10 pyboards from them over the past couple of years, and IIRC all or most of them came in a foil package w/o any black box, and no problems with any of them.

Re: Is this an original Pyboard?
Hi there,
these are Original PYBv1.1. Sparkfun is an authorised distributor.
We decided some time ago to replace the black ESD Boxes with ESD Bags. Probably Sparkfun has not updated their pictures.
Thanks for the comment about the Serial numbers. I'll try to improve them in the next manufacturing run.
Cheers,
Christine

Christine,
Thanks for the clarification, sorry for the trouble.
The board is fine, and the bar code label is of no importance.
Regards.
