Hi,
i stumbled across a Kickstarter Project called "Onion Omega" which looks like a
very nice piece of harware with lot of IOs and processing power.
Its also very tiny and has a low power consumption. I think it would
be very cool if micropython could run on this device - what do you think???

Atheros AR9331
Re: Atheros AR9331
Good news: you can already run Micropython on it!
Since it runs Linux, the unix version of micropython should work on it without any problems.

Re: Atheros AR9331
Sure but it would me much more cool if micropython runs directly on the chip
with no underlying Linux with direct HW support, right?

Re: Atheros AR9331
Yes, so please port it.

Re: Atheros AR9331
There isn't exactly a shortage of different platforms to which Micropython could be ported. In fact, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of them, and each of them would be "cool" in its own way. However, someone has to do it, and it's often a lot of work both making the port initially, and then maintaining and supporting it. If you want to do that, or know someone who does, that's great, go ahead. But don't expect anybody else to do it just because you wrote about it on this forum. In fact, now that you wrote it and it's "your idea", I think the chances of someone picking it up are even smaller. Nobody likes to work on someone else's ideas.
Re: Atheros AR9331
Its not my "Idea" and I a am unfortunately not able to port it anyway
Just wanted to share this piece of Hardware because It looks very promising and is different
from the other hardware projects in relation to the powerfull hardware.
If someone else also likes it why are chances smaller someone picking it up?
I simply was exited by this little board...

Re: Atheros AR9331
There are in fact many similar boards available:
The idea of taking a cheap processor from a WiFi router and putting it on a development board, with the ethernet pins repurposed as GPIO is in fact quite popular.
