New ESP32 development board DMtech DEV01 with NB-IoT interface

Post by danielm » Sun Jan 06, 2019 4:51 pm

Hi, I am developing new development board based on ESP32-WROVER.
Most interesting feature is onboard NB-IoT modem Quectel BC66 and cellular antenna.
It will probably be released as open source after successful tests.
Can be used on top of custom carrier board as some sort of control/communication module or the design can be used as starting point for development of use-case specific board which makes use of mass-produces modules (ESP32-WROVER, BC66) with great price.

Prototype of the board was assembled. Initial test shows that the board can attach to NB-IoT network and antenna sensitivity seems to be pretty good as well.

Looks Good!
What is the status with this board?
What will be the estimated cost ?

Thanks :)

The board exists in its first iteration which works quite well but needs some slight modifications. It would also be good to perform antenna impedance matching circuit tuning before mass production. Anyway NB-IoT interface works well with default values as well. The values are sourced from antenna datasheet (type 2JE18) which describes antenna evaluation board provided by the manufacturer (2J).

I did not design this board to sell it as a commercial product. I needed some development platform for product development. I am also considering to release it as a contribution to MicroPython ecosystem development although it is not directly related to development of MicroPython itself.

If there is interest I may arrange manufacturing of small batch. The problem is that I am currently busy developing two different products around this setup. As an alternative, if I would share the design files would you be able to build it by yourself?

Hello danielm,
Any news about your board?
I there a way to get its schematics?

thx
Michel

Sorry, no progress on this board. Are you able to manufacture by yourself if I share gerbers and BOM?
